INTRODUCING MATTHEW RIES!
Today’s guest is a national finalist in agricultural placement and will be competing at the National FFA Convention this year. Matthew Ries and his family farm and raise hogs in Lomira, Wisconsin. They have a very interested model of direct marketing almost all of their pork. That is upwards of 5,000 head of hogs per year that they sell directly to customers. Fascinating!
At one point Matthew and his dad had a frank discussion over what Matthew’s strengths were. They identified that agricultural mechanics were a place that needed work. So, Matthew enrolled in this program at Fox Valley Technical College and is learning proficiency in that area as well. What a great strategy!
