The FFA is unbelievable, and this week just proves that. My two FFA guests this week have to be two of the most incredible students in the country. Both are in their first year of college now, and I cannot think of another organization in the country that kind attract raw talent like this, develop it and put it on display.
Blake Kirchhoff is the second guest of this week to blow me away. Following Eric Porter in episode #379 is not easy to do, but Blake is up to the task.
At age 14 Blake started his SAE in FFA. He wanted to do something that was all his own. So, in spite of the fact that his father and grandfather were experienced row crop farmers, he decided to start a custom hay swathing business. He chose this because nobody in his family knew anything about it, so he had to learn it all on his own. In his words, this gave him the opportunity to test his abilities.
Blake also discovered a niche in his community. Nobody was baling small bales of hay any more and researched whether or not anyone could use them any longer. His research showed him that his hunch was correct, and he started baling small bales. Now he is pairing up farmers with too many small bales with folks who need them. His idea worked!

Donate to FFA – One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000. In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants. With your donations, more students can get this head start – pay it forward.
REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA:
“Because American farmers are able to provide for so many of us, they give more and more of us the freedom to pursue goals and livelihoods beyond growing the food we need to survive.”
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack
