OFI 299: Getting A Head Start On Veterinary School With Artificial Insemination | FFA SAE Edition | Caden Farnan | Jefferson High School FFA

SHOW NOTES:

INTRODUCING CADEN FARNAN!

Back in the days of my law enforcement career I got to spend three years as a school resource officer and work in a High School named Borah High School in Boise, Idaho.  These were the three most enjoyable years of my career as a police officer because on a daily basis I was afforded the opportunity to interact with inspiring high school students who were off to do something great with their lives.

Not until I started the Off-Farm Income Podcast did I replicate this experience.  Now I get to do this twice a week, every week, and this interview reminded me of just that fact!

Today’s guest, Caden Farnan, is totally engrossed in agriculture.  He is farming hay, raising cattle and growing watermelons for sale.  He plans on going to veterinary school and then returning to his community as a large animal veterinarian.  He says this will be his way of giving back to the community that has already given him so much.

Young men and women like this give me the drive to profile FFA students more and more.  What a rewarding experience.  I hope you enjoy this interview with Caden Farnan!

Support FFA

Donate to FFA – One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000.  In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants.  With your donations, more students can get this head start – pay it forward.

REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA:

  • Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world.  FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food.
  • Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation.  The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth.
  • Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store:

“Because American farmers are able to provide for so many of us, they give more and more of us the freedom to pursue goals and livelihoods beyond growing the food we need to survive.”

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack
