Introducing Madison Morgan!
Madison Morgan from Oakdale, California is a student at Oakdale High School. For her SAE she is raising and selling sheep for 4h and FFA projects. What was so impressive about Madison is that she did not wait to start. She has not lived on an acreage for her entire FFA tenure, but she did not allow that stop her from getting involved. Also, Madison provides excellent customer service. She meets with her customers and coaches them on fitting and showing the animals she has sold to them!
I grew up about 3 miles away from where Madison currently lives, in Valley Home, California. Her great Uncle raised sheep in Valley Home, and I actually took sheep course from him in 4H when I was in elementary school. She is showing and selling sheep with those genetics. Ironically, when I worked for the Boise Police Department one of my co-workers was raising and selling show sheep. It turned out that he bought his sheep from Leonard and Karen Bianchi in Valley Home!
I found that out in 2002! 13 years later we are purchasing sheep from him for my daughter, Hattie, to show at the Canyon County Fair this summer. I was so excited to be buying sheep all the way in Idaho with Bianchi genetics from Valley Home. Then I contacted the FFA advisor at Oakdale High School and asked for a recommendation on a student to interview. His recommendation was Madison. What an absolute irony when I found out that the sheep she is raising and selling have the same genetics as the ones we will have on our farm in about 1 month!
