Danny Rubin is the author of Wait, How Do I Write This Email?: Game-Changing Templates for Networking and the Job Search.  Danny reached out to me to be a guest on the show, and I happily said YES!  Danny does not come from the world of agriculture, but he is a subject matter expert on something that is fundamental – effective communication.  He has gone deeper into this subject than I ever have or will, and I wanted to borrow his expertise to help all of you write and communicate effectively

When I first considered whether or not to have Danny on as a guest, his distance from agriculture caused me a little bit of pause.  However, the more I thought about it, the more I reflected on my own journey.  When I decided to devote myself fully to agriculture through entrepreneurship I really started researching.  However, there was not a lot of content out there about creating successful businesses that were written from an agricultural standpoint.

So, I had to “leave” agriculture and get into a different world to learn the necessary skills to successfully run a business and create a podcast.  There are a lot of experts in the world who have identified a particular niche and become the go to person.  When you need to learn a little about a niche to help you put together the whole package, you find that expert.  That is Danny when it comes to effective communication.

Effective communication is so important in agriculture.  As we have less and less farmers in America, we do not lose the need to network with others who are doing what we do.  This is happening more and more through social media, email, text, etc.  LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are the Grange Hall of 2016.  As the number of people working in agriculture shrinks it becomes more and more important for us as farmers to tell our story to the general public so that somebody else does not tell it for us and mis-represent what we are doing.

If we cannot communicate this message effectively, we will not be heard.  So, enjoy this episode and Be Heard!
