KEY IDEAS: 

Regina and Nathan Martin wanted something different…..but what?  Regina was the natural entrepreneur.  Nathan was the experienced farm worker.  How could they take what they had as a team and turn it into the lifestyle they were seeking?

Introducing Master Farm Hand LLC, a staffing company for farmers.  Regina and Nathan had an epiphany.  Nathan had always been able to find work on farms because he had a great work ethic, a sense of responsibility, experience and skills.  If Nathan had always been able to find work because of this, what if they had a staffing company of several “Nathans”?  And a business idea was born.

Ironically the first year of Master Farmhand LLC only featured one staff available for hire….that was Nathan.  That was okay though.  Nathan was doing the same work he had always done, but now he had more control over his schedule and was making more money.  And, at the same time he and Regina were building a reputation and spreading the word about this new business.

As the spring planting season looms in the future, farmers are contacting Master Farmhand and asking for reliable staff for 6-8 month contracts.  The future here looks very bright!

ADVICE FROM REGINA AND NATHAN:

HONESTY: This is a reputation business, first and foremost.  If you are not honest, you are out of business.

UP FRONT: If there is something that you cannot do, tell the farmer that right away.  Don’t lead them to believe that you have a skill that you lack.  It will show either in your performance or the final product.

BEST: Always do your best.  Do not cut corners.  See items #1 & 2 above.

BEST BUSINESS ADVICE REGINA AND NATHAN HAVE RECEIVED:

“Just Do It” – can I say that, or is that motto trademarked by Nike?  Either way, that is the best advice they have been given, maybe by Nike.  Stop thinking about your great idea and do it!

PERSONAL HABIT THAT HELPS REGINA SUCCEED:

Regina is very detail oriented.  This helps her to keep this new business organized and to plan for the future.
