OFI 608: A Natural Born Entrepreneur With Supportive Parents | Cash & Zeke Proctor | P5 Ranch And Animal Care

 SHOW NOTES

KEY IDEAS:

I try not to be jealous of anyone, and for the most part I have no problem with that.  There is one exception – the natural born entrepreneur.  I still feel jealous of the people who are born just knowing that they want to be in business and create their own opportunities.  That is something that I never had.

Today’s guest has that, and is expressing that at a very early age.  With the support of his parents, Cash Proctor has started P5 Ranch And Animal Care.  This is a farm sitting business, and Cash had this idea after he met several people through showing animals in jackpot shows, the 4H and Junior FFA.

Cash’s dad, Zeke, appears with Cash on this episode.  He told me that they started the business this spring to try and get Cash up and going by the time that summer came around.  However, the business took off right away, and they did not want to turn down business.  So, they are already busy.

Cash is learning a lot already, and so is Zeke.  Together they are giving Cash the foundation for significant entrepreneurial enterprises in the future.  Cash is set up for a future as a full-time farmer and farm-sitter if that is what he chooses.  It will be interesting to follow Cash and see where this takes him in the future, and if he grows up to stay an entrepreneur.

ADVICE FROM CASH:

FENCES: Don’t climb them.  Make sure to respect your customer’s property and try to leave it better than you found it.  This includes tight fences.

PIGS: Don’t let pigs get out!  Out of all the livestock out there, pigs can be the hardest to control.  Be extra careful that they do not escape when you are caring for other people’s pigs.

SKITTISH: If a steer you are taking care of is skittish, don’t try to pet it!  Enough said….

BEST BUSINESS ADVICE GIVEN TO CASH:

PERSIST: Keep trying even if you fail the first time.
