OFI 285: Telling Agriculture’s Story Through Social Media | Cory Wightman | Bayer Crop Sciences

 SHOW NOTES

KEY IDEAS:

Today’s episode is all about advocating for agriculture.  Like it or not, we all should be advocating.  Any of us who want to live our lives involved in agriculture need to realize that most of America does not know what happens in the production of food and fiber.  So, it is imperative that each of use tells our story and explains how it really works.

This is true for everyone in agriculture…..from the small farmer to the largest agricultural corporation.  This episode demonstrates just that.  Bayer Crop Sciences hosts two advocating or “Agvocating” Facebook pages – AgVocate and The Beef Post.

In February AgVocate honored me by featuring my advocacy efforts with a Facebook Live presentation that they promoted on the page.  It was well attended, and I was able to talk about about podcasting about agriculture.

In this show I return the favor with an interview of Cory Wightman, the Communication Director for Bayer Crop Sciences.  We talk about everything from why Bayer has such a strong advocating presence to what community outreach projects they have in place to support agricultural education as well as rural communities.

I hope you enjoy getting to know Bayer Crop Sciences.
