Introducing Nathan Mehrer!
One of the really fun parts of interviewing FFA Students on this show is when you get to see the progression of development with the students. My interview with Nathan Mehrer did just that.
As you can see from the title this young man knows how to work and has been doing so for some time. You can also see how one thing has built upon the other. He is a junior in high school and already has a significant set of skills, work ethic and resume. This is one person you don’t have any worries about going on to be successful in life.
Nathan started mowing lawns when he was very young. That progressed and built upon itself to the point that he started to be very busy. As time went on he took a job at a lumber yard in his hometown. He was able to use the work ethic and business skills he developed in his own lawn business to make him successful working for an employer.
Nathan is in the boy scouts, and he has achieved the level of Eagle Scout. If you are not familiar with scouting, this is a significant accomplishment that is only awarded after a public service project.
For Nathan’s public service project he decided to construct a hunting blind for people with disabilities. He used his knowledge from running his own business, his new knowledge from working in the lumber yard and organized an effort to get this done.
Because of Nathan’s ideas and know how there are people who get a chance to hunt and experience the great outdoors who otherwise would be unable to.
