SHOW NOTES

If you are interested in this business why not get started making beaded Christmas decorations!

Introducing Katie Bendickson!

Katie is a student at Miami East High School in Casstown, Ohio.  Katie is the second student that I interviewed from Miami East High School.  I found both Katie and Emily Beal in an article that was written about their awards and accolades on the internet.  I was able to contact their FFA advisor, Marie Carity, and she facilitated the interviews for me.

Katie has a wonderful entrepreneurial idea for her SAE.  She has created “Katie’s Christmas Cheer” which is a small business where she makes Christmas Wreaths as well as Christmas Sprays.  She is using materials that are grown on her family’s property.  And, she is using social media (Facebook), word of mouth and flyers to sell her products.  Her business is growing, and she is planning on passing this business along to her brother.

Katie is another very well spoken FFA student with such a great story.  I am hoping that some of her products are decorating our farm this December, and I hope that you will enjoy the interview and her products as well.

SUPERVISED AGRICULTURAL EXPERIENCE: Katie’s Christmas Cheer – she creates and sells wreaths and sprays from materials found on her family’s property then markets them as Christmas decorations.

Support FFA

Donate to FFA – One way that FFA students are able to start small businesses is through an FFA grant of $1,000.  In 2014, 141 FFA students received these grants.  With your donations, more students can get this head start – pay it forward.

REASONS TO DONATE TO FFA:

  • Only 2% of Americans grow and raise most of the food and livestock consumed by the other 98% as well as the rest of the world.  FFA is providing the needed education, training and resources to Americans that will carry that torch forward and insure that America continues to have inexpensive, quality food.
  • Rural Communities will rely on entrepreneurship in the future for population growth and job creation.  The FFA is a major catalyst to that entrepreneurial growth.
  • Farmers, ranchers and those working in agriculture give the rest of America incredible amounts of freedom because the search for food is as simple as going to the grocery store:

“Because American farmers are able to provide for so many of us, they give more and more of us the freedom to pursue goals and livelihoods beyond growing the food we need to survive.”

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack
